Spring Fling Blog Hop BannerThanks for participating in the Spring Fling Blog Hop! I’m Kendall McKenna and welcome to the home of Love and Dog Tags!

I’ve been writing M/M erotic stories professionally since 2012, but I was writing slash fanfiction for years and years before that. The M/M genre grew directly from slash fic, but has also been spiced and flavored, shaped and colored by other activities of significant subcultures (such as early gay fiction writing!).

I love M/M erotic romance, for the same reasons I (still) love slash fic. If one hot man overcoming conflict, losing his heart, and having hot sex is entertaining to read, then two hot men doing the same, is DOUBLE the entertainment.

BrothersinArms w-seriesThere’s much more to it than that, as well. Two main characters who are male, allow us to examine the world, as well as certain human and social issues, from a different perspective. No one perspective is better than any other. None is right or wrong. It’s just that M/M stories put us in a room with a different view, which is interesting, stimulating, and exhilarating.

Of course, M/M stories also provide us with opportunities to explore all the issues that have to do with being gay. We’re able to examine how and what it is to live and work as a gay person. We have opportunities to explore how much more difficult relationships can be, faced with such negative external influences. On the other hand, we can also take a look at how much better a difficult journey is, when you have someone you love by your side.

TheStrengthofthePackMcKenna6When I began writing the M/M genre professionally, I made the choice to focus on a very specific sub-genre. My stories feature authentically written U.S. Marines. My characters speak and act, just as real life Marines do. I include their jargon in both the narrative, and the dialog. The combat scenes and action sequences in my books are very realistic. The missions are believable. The equipment and how it’s used is accurate. I give my readers very real views of what it’s like to be in relationships with these men. It’s a little difficult to classify my stories, because they all have complex, carefully built plots. The romance and the hot sex are spun around the story, in a complimentary manner. Readers get mystery, suspense, action, and adventure, with a really hot romance burning around the edges.

My first novel, I thought would be a one-off, but has turned into a series I’ve titled The Recon Diaries. It’s a series of contemporary mystery/suspense stories that center on a team of Recon Marines.

I have released a second series, The Tameness of the Wolf, that also features U.S. Marines. This is a paranormal series, wherein werewolves are known, and are fully integrated into the military. I don’t read werewolf stories, so I don’t know the ‘rules’ or the common tropes. The result is what everyone tells me is a series that has completely refreshed the genre. I don’t know if that’s true, but I have had fun building my own, new world.

Big Bone Lick - Devil Dog & Bad WolfPrize #1 – Big Bone Lick Pack (anthology)

Welcome to the Big Bone Lick Pack: A more friendly and hospitable group of werewolves you’ll never meet! Visit with; ‘Devil Dog & Bad Wolf’, a ‘Big Bad Bear’ and enjoy some ‘Shifty Fox Shenanigans’. Watch yourself, ’round the state park, ’cause we had a grizzly on the loose, just a bit ago. Our brave men and woman of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department have everything under control. (Except maybe their own love lives!) But if you find yourself needing a doctor, head on down to Rabbit Hash clinic, or St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is just up the road a piece. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Nights_in_Canaan_Final_FrontPrize #2 – Nights In Canaan

Love and hate. Good and evil. Life and death. The universe requires balance, whatever the cost. An ancient vampire rises, time after time, threatening the survival of the human race. An ancient warrior is reborn, again and again, with the singular purpose of halting the vampire’s bloody rampage. With each encounter throughout time, their passions burn and their emotions deepen. The vampire shares his body and the warrior shares his blood. When they are no longer able to cause one another harm, the lovers hesitate to fulfill their destinies. Will the ancient warrior sacrifice the whole of the human race, in exchange for eternity in the arms of the vampire he loves?
