Updated Sit-Rep (includes GRL)

I have so much intel to download to give you guys an accurate sit-rep, so I’ll just jump right in:

It’s been 2 years since I had my broken ankle surgically repaired. My surgeon installed 2 plates and 8 screws. At the end of 2015, he declared me completely and correctly healed. My family doctor told me to give it about 2 years to feel normal again. So, I was patient. Just before GRL 2016, I took a job as a dog groomer, working for a long-time friend. It’s been so beneficial for me, strengthening my ankle and increasing my stamina. Except, I’m still experience episodes of extreme pain. I’ve been having to take double the amount of pain medication lately, just to be able to get out of bed and put any weight on that leg. In the evenings, I’ve had such deep, throbbing pain, sometimes I can’t hold still at all. The worst is when I wake up in the middle of the night in such pain, my writhing in bed wakes up SpousalUnit (aka DearHusband, aka DH). Because I take pain meds before I go to sleep, this really should not be happening.

I am so sick and tired of this, I started expressing my dissatisfaction to my primary doctor. Recent x-rays show that my ankle did indeed heal correctly and completely. There is nothing structural that should be causing all this. So, I got sent to the pain clinic. They tweaked my meds a little, which has only made things the teeniest bit better. So, I’ve been referred to Podiatry and a counselor. I should have an updated sit-rep in about 2 weeks. In the meantime, there’s a leash attaching me to my pharmacy.

Strength of the Warrior will be out this year. I’m actually making serious progress, and as I told MamaKris today, I know the journeys T and Kai are on, I know in what order each significant scene takes place, now I just have to transcribe what’s in my head.

Yes, I’m attending GRL this year. I will be in Denver signing books and providing swag. Yes, I will have dog tags for all the couples, including Terrell and Kai. I’ll have bookmarks again, some new surprises, and best of all – a way to show the world you have your True Alpha’s protection. J

I do not bring print books with me to GRL. Getting them there isn’t typically a problem, it’s getting the unsold ones home after the event. If you have a print book you want my to sign this year, definitely bring it with you. You still have plenty of time to order print books before the event itself, if you’d like to do this. At this point, I don’t know of Laura will have any at the MLR table this year. If I hear that she will, I’ll let everyone know. However, since I know someone who is driving to Denver and can take some of my books and swag for me, this year I’ve decided that I’ll take pre-orders for print books, and sign them in advance to be picked up directly from me. I’ll even provide everyone ordering books to be signed and picked up at GRL, the GRL Weekend Price Special. I just need to look up what that is and let everyone know! Well, that and how to place and pay for the orders.

My preliminary schedule for GRL is as follows:

Author Lounge 1 2:00 pm

Author Q&A 9:00 am
Author Lounge 2 3:00 pm

Featured Author Autograph Session

If I can score another Spotlight, I’ll do a reading, too. There’s just no guarantee I’ll be lucky enough.

I’m in the middle of a complete overhaul of my website, so that’s going to be changing moment-to-moment. It’s needed a major update for about 2 years now, and I’m finally motivated to get that done. Keep an eye on it as it changes.

This ends my current sit-rep. As more intel becomes available, I’ll pass it along.

Kendall McKenna

Kendall mckenna love & dog tags Kendall McKenna is an author of M/M erotic romance novels. Kendall McKenna’s first work of fiction was written at the worldly age of nine, and was a transformative work that expanded on the story told in a popular song of the time. She tried her hand at vampire and cowboy fiction, winning high school poetry and short story contests along the way. It wasn’t until she discovered the world of m/m erotic fiction and found her stride with cops, Marines and muscle cars, that she felt inspired to share her stories with readers who enjoy the same things. Putting herself through college by working in a newly-created HIV testing clinic in her local Department of Health, introduced Kendall to the gay and lesbian community. Understanding and empathy has made her a lifetime advocate of GLBT issues. A brief bout of unemployment gave Kendall the time and focus she needed to finally produce a novel worth submitting for publication. Her first novel, Brothers In Arms, introduced the world to her authentic military stories and characters. Kendall was born and raised in Southern California, where she still lives and works. A non-conventional relationship has kept her happy for the last decade. Her four dogs enjoy it when she writes, as she sits still long enough for them to curl up around her.

  1. You’ve certainly had a rough ride. I hope things change for you soon. In the meantime your books are worth waiting for and as soon as you’ve got Strength of the Warrior up, it will be mine.

  2. Excited to see you again in Denver! So sorry to hear about your bum ankle. Hope it feels better soon!

  3. Oh Kendall, I’m so sorry to hear about your level of pain. I don’t know you, but my heart goes out to you. I’m glad the ankle healed properly, but it sounds like some nerve is quite unhappy. When that ankle screams at you, try an ice pack, for at least 20 minutes. It might not be enough, but it’s worth a try. See you in Denver, home of cannabis and cbd oil. <3

  4. I hope you get better soon. Can’t wait for the next chapter in the Tameness series. We will be waiting patiently so take care.
